Welcome to year 15 of Casa Lala’s Summers of aventura, alegría, amistad!

The three pillars that shape a Summer at Casa Lala:

1)   AVENTURA (adventure).
Casa Lala’s philosophy lets the child nurture their natural sense of discovery, independence, awe, and problem-solving. In other words, we give children the space to be children. We sing loudly, we climb trees, we run, we get our hands dirty and our feet wet. Every day of summer camp is an Aventura. This is guided by a strong Montessori background in our team.

2)   ALEGRÍA (joy).
Whatever the program, we infuse it with our team’s characteristic joy, music, FUN. Something that can be perceived as spontaneous is in fact a carefully crafted aspect of our camps, and is something on which our team receives regular training.

3)  AMISTAD (friendship).
Casa Lala is above all a community of friends. We value and lay out an environment that fosters lasting friendships. We learn to lend a helping hand, and to receive one in return. We love to see new friendships bloom every summer, and we love to see those that are strengthened summer after summer.

CAMP GROUPS

AJOLOTES

Our Ajolotes friends have a wonderful program of splash days in the garden, themed days, cooking lessons, arts & crafts, music and dance parties, outdoors science workshops, and nature discovery. They don’t go on field trips, but have mini-adventures to visit playgrounds next to Casa Lala.

Camaleones have optional nap time.

TUCANES

Ajolotes use our signature program “DC as our Classroom” to discover all the wonderful things our city has to offer. 4 days per week they set off in our beloved Juanchas (Casa Lala’s colorful, music filled vans) and explore parks, monuments, orchards, museums, libraries, ‘discovering our neighborhood’ walks… as well as 1 day per week at Casa Lala, with activities centered around community creation (cooking together, music & dance, arts & crafts, science workshops…) and always as much outdoors exploring as well can.

Each summer camp week has a dedicated theme, which they will explore and discover around the city, and have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field.

Week 1: From Farm to Supermarket to Kitchen to Table
Week 2: Embassies
Week 3: Art, Pottery & Architecture
Week 4: Uncommon Sports (including bowling and mini golf!)
Week 5: Monuments: The Story of my City
Week 6: Jobs that ensure our Health and safety: Firefighters, Police, Doctors.
Week 7: Parks and those that inhabit them
Week 8: Money, Money, Money
Week 9: Music & Theatre
Week 10: People in my City

CABRAS

Campers aged 7 to 11. “Why is that?” The wonderful age of ‘why and how!’ How society and the city they live in works, how jobs work, how the world works... To satisfy this need to know the why behind things, and after many requests from families whose children were with us in our early years, we are going back to our roots and bringing back the original Casa Lala program:

Our Manaties friends will learn independence and how the city works by getting to their field trip destinations using our city’s exceptional public transportation. Each child will have their very own map and compass, and carefully learn how to read it. Each day they will be responsible for mapping out the group’s route, calculating how many steps they took, and how long each trajectory was.

General information for all ages:

  • Dates: Summer Camp runs between the dates of June 16th and August 22nd, 2025. The weeks of June 16th and of August 25th are also offered as One Day Camps; the rest of the summer is only available as weekly registrations.

  • Fees: June and July: $625 per week per child. August: $675 per week per child.

  • Timings: 9am to 5pm

  • Language: Casa Lala is a Spanish full immersion program. All our teachers are fully bilingual (English/Spanish), speak to the children in Spanish, and encourage them to practice the language. However, knowing Spanish is not a requirement to attend camp: our team first gauges the level of knowledge of the language of each child and takes it from there to begin teaching the language. We ensure all children feel integrated and welcome.
